Literacy Library
Our Literacy Library provides free, new or like-new books to children from birth through high school.
Each donated book is carefully inspected to ensure it is in excellent condition—no writing or torn pages—and sorted by our volunteer librarians to match the right books to the right reading levels. By getting books directly into children’s hands, we nurture curiosity and support educational success. Studies show that children with books at home score higher on reading assessments and are more likely to graduate from high school.

Westchester Reads, an initiative of the 914Cares Literacy Library, invites early elementary students from our partner public school districts into our space for interactive, literacy-focused field trips. Our volunteers, Board members, and staff read to the participating class, then invite the students to fill tote bags with 10 books of their choosing in order to build up their home libraries.
