Advocacy at 914Cares:
Raising Awareness. Inspiring Action. Driving Change.
At 914Cares, we believe that no Westchester resident should go without the basic essentials they need to survive and thrive.
Through advocacy, education, and community engagement, we work to raise awareness about clothing insecurity, hygiene insecurity, period poverty, and diaper need—and inspire action to address them.
How We Advocate

Community Education
We help bring basic essential insecurity into the public view by sharing stories, data, and real-world insight about the challenges facing local families and individuals. Every group volunteer session begins with an overview of poverty in Westchester. We participate in strategically-chosen events across the county that give us a platform to share our mission. We empower our Junior Advisory Board with the information they need to inform and educate their classmates, inspiring the next generation of changemakers.
Public Awareness
Through targeted campaigns, events, media outreach, and community conversations, we work to build greater understanding of essentials insecurity and why it matters.

Partnership & Collaboration
We collaborate with schools, community organizations, other non-profits, healthcare providers, elected officials, and community leaders to elevate issues and identify solutions together.
Through our memberships in the National Diaper Bank Network and Alliance for Period Supplies, we participate in annual “Lobby Days” at the state and federal level. Essentials need is a non-partisan issue, and we are committed to keeping our elected officials informed.
